Invoicing method and payment arrangements
Student fees are sent to the guardian by e-mail, the sender is OpenText Oy.
NOTE! The e-invoicing service is temporarily unavailable due to a software transition. We will provide further updates later.
It is possible to agree on payment arrangements before the due date by contacting the office by email: ihmo(at)ihmo.fi
The instalment agreement is made in writing and the instalments must shorten the invoice regularly. When paying instalments, the same invoice payment reference must always be used.
There are no other reductions in tuition fees.
Late payment: A payment reminder fee of 5 € and interest on late payment in accordance with the Interest Act.
The student place reservation is valid throughout the academic year. Missing classes is not an acceptable notification of giving up a student place. Any termination of studies must be notified without delay by e-mail: ihmo(at)ihmo.fi
The tuition fee will not be refunded to students who drop out of their studies during the term.
Failure to pay the tuition fee or default of the instalment agreement will result in the loss of the student place.
Late payment: A payment reminder fee of 5 € and interest on late payment in accordance with the Interest Act.
If we have not received payment after the payment reminder, the collection of the invoice will automatically be transferred to debt collection agency Intrum Oy.
The family discount is divided between those who have several people from the same family (household) studying in basic studies, advanced studies or in the adult section (discount for 2nd pupil 50 €, 3rd pupil 75 €, 4th pupil 100 €). The discount is not applied for separately but is taken into account automatically.
Tuition fees cover 27 % of the teaching costs of the East Helsinki Music Institute, the remaining 72 % is received as a central government transfer (57 %) and a subsidy from the City of Helsinki (15 %).
The operating grant received from the City of Helsinki is only targeted at pupils living in Helsinki. A student place of a main subject can only be at one city-supported educational institution. The East Helsinki Music Institute charges students living outside Helsinki a non-resident fee.
Students report their absences
directly to the teacher – only in exceptional cases to the office. The teacher
is not obliged to replace classes if the pupil is for example sick, on
vacation, at school events, late, or has forgotten the lesson. However, if you
know well in advance e.g. of a family vacation, it is worth negotiating with
the teacher about the possibility of transferring the lesson.
If you are symptomatic, ill or
convalescent, you are not allowed to attend classes! We recommend that you miss
class due to flu symptoms. Every instrument student should be prepared to move
quickly to distance learning, either due to the student’s or teacher’s
situation. The possibility to follow teaching remotely is only possible on
health grounds and must be agreed upon well in advance with the teacher.
If the teacher’s absence is due to
sick leave, lessons will not be reimbursed unless the absence continues
continuously for more than 2 weeks or 2 weeks of activity per term. An
exception to this rule are group subjects, for which the primary aim is to find
a substitute.
The tuition fee for early childhood music education (music kindergarten, “Muskari”) is determined by the length of the lesson. There are fewer Saturday groups than groups on other days, and this has been taken into account in student fees. For new students of Muskari, the first lesson can be an introductory session.
The tuition fee for basic and advanced studies includes instrumental or singing lessons, teaching of musical perceptual subjects and ensemble playing.
The content of teaching weeks may vary from week to week and due to bank holidays. Therefore, the amount of instruction may vary for different pupils or groups depending on the teaching day according to the timetable. In other words, the amount of instruction is not calculated as individual lessons per week, but the teaching as a whole tells more about the content. Sometimes a student may have a week where there is an accompaniment rehearsal, their own individual lesson, a music perception lesson, a concert and a chamber music lesson, and sometimes a week when there is nothing more than their own individual lesson, orchestra and music perception lesson. In between, the program of the teaching week may consist of e.g. accompaniments, group lessons, ensemble playing with dress rehearsals, concerts and instrument-specific workshop week activities.
For additional courses or other additional teaching, master classes and camps, etc. a separate fee will be charged.
